Thaiparadevatha Theyyam is actually Badrakali Devi also known by many other names like Thiruvarkat Bhagavathi, Valiya Thampuratti etc. The name Badrakali itself means that the Devi is a ferocious Goddess who is thirst for Blood. Badrakali Devi is actually the friend of Puthiya Bhagavathi. In temples where Puthiya Bhagavathi is worshipped Devi is also worshipped by the name of Badrakali. Thaiparadevatha Theyyam is performed by perople from the caste of Vannan.
Along with Thiruvarkat Bhagavathi the sons and daughters like Kshethrapalakan, Someshwari, Pazhassi Bhagavathi, Sree Poorkali Bhagavathi, Kaalarathri, Chuzhali Bhagavathi etc are performed

The Myth or Story
Thaiparadevatha Theyyam is actually Badrakali born along with Veerabadran from the hair of Lord Paramashiva when he beat the hair on ground knowing the suicide of Sathi Devi after being insulted by her father Dakshan for not comming to attend the Yaga without an invitation. Veerabadran and Badrakali later went and destroyed the whole Yaga shrine and set it on fire and cut the head of King Daksha.
On return Lord shiva gave Badrakali a seat on the North of Mount Kailasa near Rajathajalam. Badrakali then born again later at the time of Devasura war. At that time Devi after a 7 day log Battle in the 8th day killed Asura Dharika who had the strength of 7 Elephants and cut the head and drank the blood. Completing the purpose of the Avathar, Lord Shiva later sent Badrakali to the earth to serve the people here.
On Earth Lord Shiva divided the Kolathunadu into four as Thiruvarkadu (Madayikavu) in the North, Kalarivathukal in the South, Mamanikunnu in the East and Cherukunnu Annapoornashwari Temple in the West and gave to Devi Badrakali.

Ashtamichal Bhagavathi
Ashtamichal Bhagavahi is actually Thaiparadevatha and the Goddess worshipped by people of Shaliyar caste at Payyanur Theruvila PradhanaKavu with special rituals. Bhagavathi arrived here as a young virgin girl with Kanzhirakutti Vazhunnor of Payyanur who went to Madayikavu. Ashtamichal Bhagavathi is the family Goddess of Kolathiri Raja. The speciality of this Temple is Meenoottu i.e. feeding fish. A lot of people go fishing at the lake at Kavvayi and bring fishes to Devi.
Oravankara Bhagavathi
Oravankara Bhagavathi also is Badrakali and people from the caste of Vannan perform this Theyyam. Thandayarssan was a famous warrior of the village at Oravachunakara, Panapuzha near Mathamangalam. Once inorder to test the Gurukkal The Chirakkal Raja invited the Gurukkal to his Kovilakam. Gurukkal was a Devotee of Kalarivathukkal Bhagavathi and while praying to the Goddess on the way to the Kovilakam got a Sward. On return to the Oravachunakara village after successfully clearing all the tests of Chirakkal Raja the Gurukkal the consecrated the sword and the Devi came to be known as Oravankara Devi.
